As far as we’re concerned Fishman’s Platinum Pro has got
to be the most flexible pre amp/EQ solution available today. Besides the
fact that it sounds fabulous, is incredibly easy to use and is built
like a tank, it’s most desirable feature is perhaps an on-board
compressor. For those of you who don’t know why this is so desirable
simply plug into one and you’ll get it right away. A compressor will knock
down all that brittle stuff that comes off your under-saddle pick up. It
can also help to bring back proper balance to an uneven piezo pickup. A
compressor will also give you more sustain and that pays huge dividends the
moment you stop playing chords and take a solo. But the bottom line is
that it sounds fantastic and is loaded with features. We believe that
having a very powerful out board pre amp is the way to go because you
only need one and can use it with all of your instruments as opposed to
having a good pre amp built into your guitar which will only work for
that guitar. |
